Dr. Alan Solinsky is a graduate of the Univ. of CT School of Medicine. He trained at Hartford Hospital, Hahnemann Univ., and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. He is a clinical instructor for the Dept. of Surgery at the Univ. of CT. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a Member and Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He has performed thousands of micro-surgical eye operations and has been in practice since 1990. He was selected as one of America’s top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council of America, and also as one of Connecticut’s Top Doctors by Connecticut Magazine. Dr. Jeng specializes in retinal disease, especially age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and other types of eye surgeries, as well as general ophthalmology. He completed his medical retina fellowship at London’s prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. Before that, Dr. Jeng graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, received his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine, and his ophthalmology training and residency at the Doheny Eye Institute of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians as well as a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Jeng combines an impressive educational background and deep clinical experience with a strong desire to provide attentive, personalized care to his patients. Lee completed a two-year, ASOPRS-accredited oculoplastics fellowship at the University of North Carolina and did his ophthalmology residency at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia where he served as chief resident. He is a graduate of Stanford University and received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Lee specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the eyelids, eye socket, and tear drainage system, cosmetic procedures of the eyelids and face, and comprehensive ophthalmology. Upon moving to Connecticut, I have taken up east coast skiing and enjoyed discovering the small towns and cultures of New England. In my spare time I also enjoy traveling, reading, and exploring the world with friends and family.

Dr. Hwang specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics. Subsequently, he completed his medical school and PhD at Columbia University, earning his PhD degree with honors and writing his dissertation on Alzheimer’s disease. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute of the University of Southern California and glaucoma fellowship at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Hwang is a board-certified ophthalmologist, and has garnered awards including the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and the Doheny Professional Association Travel Award. He has also published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on such wide-ranging topics as glaucoma, Alzheimer’s disease, ion channel electrophysiology, and femtosecond laser interactions with transparent materials. Outside of work, Dr. Hwang is also an accomplished amateur classical musician, having performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

Dr. Solinsky completed his fellowship training in medical retina at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, a prestigious top 10 eye institution. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center of New York Medical College, and his internal medicine internship at UCONN Health. He earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and his bachelor’s at Union College where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Solinsky has also presented his research on macular degeneration at national ophthalmology conferences, and specializes in medical retina, cataracts and comprehensive ophthalmology.

Dr. Chateauneuf received her doctorate from The New England College of Optometry in Boston. She completed a residency in ocular disease and primary eye care at the VA Medical Center West Roxbury campus. Her education and training enable her to practice current Advanced Optometric Care. Dr. Chateauneuf is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the CT Association of Optometrists as well as a diplomat of the American Board of Optometry. She is also a member of Volunteer Optometrists in Service to Humanity (VOSH). She has a special interest in Low Vision and was involved in research in this field while part of the Clinical Scholars program at The New England College of Optometry. She is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Diaferio received her doctorate, and her Bachelor of Science – Magna Cum Laude, from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University, in Boston & Worcester Massachusetts. During her studies, she was able to work with various patient demographics in order to treat and manage different ocular conditions. Dr. Diaferio completed internships in ocular disease, primary care, and low vision at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Maine, in Connecticut at both Pavano & Associates in New Britain, and Solinsky EyeCare in West Hartford. She is happy to have had the opportunity to train under very knowledgeable and esteemed Optometrists and Ophthalmologists and looks forward to working with patients of all ages to treat and manage eye conditions and to provide the very best care.
